Redefined professional goals through practical experience

Lan Tells How She Discovered Her Career Aspiration Through Her Working Student Job

What are you studying?

My name is Lan and I study computer linguistics at the LMU Munich. I am originally from Vietnam and emigrated to study here in Germany.

Why did you decide on a working student position at HGV?

To gain practical experience during my studies, I first worked as a freelance web developer with the goal of "Learning by doing". But fortunately, I then found a vacancy at HGV Munich and realized that this is exactly the job I would like to do.

What are your tasks or projects at HGV and what have you learned so far?

I work as a front end developer at HGV Munich. It is my job to closely work together with the back end development. In my working student time, I was able to learn a lot about software development processes. There is also the Holtzbrinck Campus with lots of interesting online courses where I can expand my knowledge on an ongoing basis.

What do you especially value about working at HGV?

What I really like at HGV Munich is the fact that working students and permanent employees are not treated differently.

What are your professional goals?

My dream job was formerly AI developer. But now I have changed my professional goal. In the future, I would like to be a front end developer. I didn't choose the job, the job chose me. But I think that in the future AI will play an increasing role at HGV.
