Anika talks about her motivation during her studies and how this paved the way for her internship at Holtzbrinck
What do you study?
Hello, I am Anika Shahjabin from Bangladesh. I am currently studying masters in Global Markets Local Creativities at the University of Göttingen. During my summer break, I partook the Strategy & transformation internship at the Holtzbrinck Publishing Group in Stuttgart.
What attracted you most about the internship?
Since my master’s program takes a holistic approach to globalized economy, I was looking for acompany which has a broad international portfolio while being embedded into the local culture. Hence this internship sought my attention and I am fortunate for this opportunity to work for the strategy and digital transformation team.
Tell us a little about your working day.
On my day to day job I support the Strategy team in market landscaping for relevant industries relevant in print and publishing business. At the same time, I get the opportunity to work with the founding team of a Web3 based startup in their content and communication planning as well as capability roadmap creation.
What do you like most about your internship?
The best part of the internship is I get to research and analyze local and international market players in contrast to the core strengths of the company- which deepened my understanding on strategy and investment management and analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Plus, I got access to the huge literature repository that Holtzbrinck offers to its employees. It’s a total win-win for a bibliophile!
What advice would you give to other students?
Coming from a Finance background, I highly recommend this internship to the students of Business Administration who are keen to build their career in growth and investment strategy. It will surely provide you with an immersive experience evolving around international strategic management and market analysis as well as the fast paced environment of start-ups.
